Hi, I’m Yueyang Dong but I go by Derek!

I’ve lived in Flushing, Queens ever since I came to America in 5th grade but my family recently just moved to Long island (like a 10 minute walk from Stony Brook University). I love taking pictures with my i-phone and I hope to get a real camera soon. I never really got the chance to explore the city until college started and there are a lot of places that I want to visit around NYC and take pictures of, especially as I’ve mentioned in class – Staten Island (There has to be something…).

Learning about the arts of NYC last semester was such a unique experience, it felt like a class trip every other week, truly touching on the humanities on a personal level. This semester, I’m thrilled to explore NYC more with the class as a group as well as on my own. I hope to visit more neighborhoods, museums and areas where the cultures intermingle.

The picture I attached was taken from the Staten Island ferry at 3 different times of the (same) day. It rained the night before so I thought the sky would be willing to cooperate for a few shots 🙂
